Introduction

Twenty, Inc., d/b/a Hello World (“Hello World”, we”, “our” “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the helloworldnetwork.org website and domain names (the “Websites”) or utilize our mobile applications (the “Mobile Apps”) (the Websites and Mobile Apps may be collectively referred to as the “Services”) and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This policy applies to information we collect:

  • From the Websites and Mobile Apps.
  • In E-mail, text, and other electronic messages between you and the Websites or Mobile Apps.
  • Through the Mobile Apps and desktop applications you download from the Websites, which provide dedicated non-browser-based interaction between you and the Websites.

  • From third-party charities, foundations, groups and other organizations who offer opportunities, provide challenges or are otherwise involved in the Services (the “Organizations”)

Children Under the Age of 13

We are concerned about the safety of children when they use the Internet and our Services.  Our Services are not intended for children under 13 years of age.  If you are under the age of 13, do not use or provide any information on the Websites or Mobile Apps, or on or through any of its features/functionality, use any of the interactive or public comment features that may be available on the Websites or Mobile Apps, or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, E-mail address or any screen name or user name you may use.  If we learn that we have collected or received personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information.  If you believe we might have obtained any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at legal@gethello.org.

Parental Consent

We require a parent or guardian to consent before a child under the age of 18 can create an account or use any of the Services offered by Hello World. During our registration process, we require you to confirm that you have a parent’s consent.  If we need to collect any further information to verify parental consent, we will limit the personal information required (i.e., parent’s name and E-mail address) and only use this for the purposes of obtaining a parent’s permission for his/her child to participate in the particular Services, including challenges or to obtain a prize in connection with certain contests.

Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Services to you, including information:

  • By which you may be personally identified, such as name, postal address, E-mail address, telephone number, date of birth, nationality, primary language, gender, academic achievements, and any other identifier by which you may be contacted online or offline, and any information contained within videos, posts or other content that you provide through the Websites or Mobile Apps;
  • About your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Websites or Mobile Apps and usage details;
  • which may be special categories of data.  Special categories of data include information about physical and mental health, sexual orientation, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, philosophical belief, and biometric data.

We collect this information:

  • Directly from you when you provide it to us.
  • Automatically as you navigate through the Websites or Mobile Apps. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses, and information collected through cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies.

  • Information you post, publish or display on public areas of the Service, or transmitted to other users of the Service, Organizations, or third parties (collectively, “User Contributions”).
  • Records and copies of your correspondence (including E-mail addresses), if you contact us.
  • Your responses to surveys that we might ask you to complete for research purposes.
  • Your search queries from the Websites or Mobile Apps.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies  

As you navigate through and interact with our Services, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

  • Details of your visits to our Websites or Mobile Apps, including traffic data, location data, logs, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Websites or Mobile Apps.
  • Details about your referral source, interactions on our Websites or Mobile Apps, and interest expressed through interactions with Opportunities.
  • Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

The information we collect automatically is statistical data and may include personal information, but we may maintain it or associate it with personal information we collect in other ways or receive from third parties. It helps us to improve our Services and to deliver a better and more personalized service, including by enabling us to:

  • Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize our Services according to your individual interests.

  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Services when you choose to do so;
  • To provide customer support;
  • To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Services;
  • To monitor the usage of our Services;
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues;
  • To provide you with news, special offers and general information about other opportunities , services and events which we offer where you have opted in to receive them until you unsubscribe;
  • To enhance our security and prevent fraud or any other misuse of the Services;

In most cases, the provision of your personal information is not required by a statutory or contractual obligation.  However, the provision of personal information will be necessary in order to enter into a contract with us or to receive our Services or because it is in our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of others.   Our legitimate interests are to:

  • meet our objectives to connect young people with scholarships and other opportunities;
  • provide our Services to you;
  • operate our Websites and the Mobile Apps;
  • raise awareness of the opportunities provided by Organizations including by carrying out marketing, market research and business development;
  • prevent fraud and other illegal activity; and
  • comply with legal obligations and for other internal administrative purposes.

The legitimate interests of others including Organizations are to meet their objectives to offer young people scholarships and other opportunities.

If we rely on our (or another person's) legitimate interests for using your personal information, we will undertake a balancing test to ensure that our (or the other person's) legitimate interests are not outweighed by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms which require protection of the personal information.  You can ask us for information on this balancing test by contacting us at legal@gethello.org.

In situations where the provision of your personal information is necessary, not providing your personal information may likely result in you not receiving the Services requested.  Unless otherwise specified, not providing your personal information will not result in legal consequences to you.

We may also use your information to contact you about our own and third-parties’ services that may be of interest to you. We will ask for your consent to use your information in this way using a relevant tick box located on the form on which we collect your data (the registration form)/adjust your user preferences in your account profile. We may use your special categories of data (such as gender identity, health and wellbeing information) where you have provided your consent (which you may withdraw at any time after giving it, as described below).

If we rely on your consent for us to use your personal information in a particular way, but you later change your mind, you may withdraw your consent by contacting us at legal@gethello.org and we will stop doing so. However, if you withdraw your consent, this may impact the ability for us to be able to provide our Services to you.

Storage of Your Information

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy. We will retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

We will also retain usage data for internal analysis purposes. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Services, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer periods.

Transfer of Data

Your information, including personal information may be transferred to – and maintained on – computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including personal information, to the United States and process it there.

We are committed to protecting the security and integrity of personal information, and we use procedures and technology designed for this purpose.  For example:

  • We limit employee access to personal information to those who have a business reason to know this information.
  • We maintain policies and procedures covering the physical security of workplaces and records.
  • We use technological means (such as backup files, virus detection software, firewalls, and other computer software and hardware) to protect against unauthorized access or alterations to personal information.

Data Security

The main risk of our processing of your personal information is if it is lost, stolen or misused.  This could lead to your personal information being in the hands of someone else who may use it fraudulently or make public, information that you would prefer to keep private.  While we employ many different security techniques to protect such data from unauthorized access by users, inside and outside Hello World, perfect security does not exist on the Internet.  As the security of information depends in part on the security of the device you use to communicate with us and the security you use to protect user usernames and passwords, please take appropriate measures to protect this information.  We ask you not to share your password with anyone.  We urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Services like message boards. Any other users of the Services may view the information you share in public areas.  Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted through the Services. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Services.

Service Providers

We may employ third-party service providers and data processors to facilitate our Services, provide the Services on our behalf, perform services related to the Websites or Mobile Apps or assist us in analyzing how our Services are used. We may also work with third party partners to employ technologies, including the application of statistical modeling tools, which permit us to recognize and contact you across multiple devices.

These third parties have access to your personal information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Disclosure of Your Information

  • To our sponsors, funders, or other business associates as necessary to attribute your activity or participation to the appropriate referral source.
  • To third-party Organizations when you start your application for an opportunity who will use the information in relation to opportunities with that Organization. Please note that Organizations will have their own terms and privacy policies which you should review.
  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
  • To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or other sale or transfer of some or all of Hello World’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Hello World about our users is among the assets transferred.
  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it. For example, if you give us an E-mail address to use any “E-mail a friend” feature which may be available on our Websites or Mobile Apps, we will transmit the contents of that E-mail and your E-mail address to the recipients.
  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.
  • With third party applications or services in several ways. Please note that these third parties are not governed by Hello World or the terms of this Privacy Policy. We recommend you review the privacy policy of any third party application or service before authorizing access to your personal information.
  • We may share data with social networks as part of the application for an opportunity at your request.
  • We may share data with third-party applications that you authorize.
  • We may share data in connection with special programs you participate in.

We may also disclose your personal information:

  • To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
  • To enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements, including for billing and collection purposes.
  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hello World, Organizations, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
  • We may also disclose and use anonymised, aggregated reporting and statistics about users of our Websites, Mobile Apps or Services for the purpose of internal reporting or reporting to third parties, and for our marketing and promotion purposes. None of these anonymized, aggregated reports or statistics will enable our users to be personally identified.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. As a rule, we will obtain your consent prior to sending promotional materials and will only contact you with promotional materials without our prior consent if permitted by law.  If you no longer wish to receive promotional information from us, or if you do not want us to use your information to enhance your online experience, you may OPT OUT of receiving our promotional communications by simply following the Unsubscribe or Preference Center link at the bottom of our E-mails and updating your cookie settings.  We will maintain your information in our “do not contact” list to ensure that we can honor your request. Please note that it may take up to 30 days to process your opt out request, during which time you may continue to receive communications from Hello World.

Our Services may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. We do not control third parties’ collection or use of your information or the privacy policies or practices of these websites. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.  We provide these links solely for the convenience and information for the users of our Services.  Hello World assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You can review and change your Personal Information by logging into the Mobile Apps and visiting your account profile page.

You may also send us an E-mail at help@gethello.org to request access to, correct or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We cannot delete your Personal Information except by also deleting your user account. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

If you delete your User Contributions from the Mobile Apps or Websites, copies of your User Contributions may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or might have been copied or stored by other Mobile Apps or Websites users. Proper access and use of information provided on the Mobile Apps and Websites, including User Contributions, is governed by our Terms of Use.

Reporting Requirements

In the unfortunate event we become aware of any unauthorized access or use of personal information stored by us as a result of actions taken by Hello World or any outside party, we will report this to the appropriate authorities, as required by law.  If you become aware of any unauthorized use or access of your personal information as a result of our data practices, please notify us immediately using any of the methods of communication identified in this policy.

Rights Applicable to  European Economic Area and UK Residents

Residents of the EEA and UK may have further rights in addition to those mentioned above.  This Privacy Policy reflects our compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) applicable to the EEA and UK.  

Right of Access

You have the right to obtain from us confirmation as to whether or not personal information concerning you, or (for parents / guardians) the Services user, is being processed, and where that is the case, to request access to the personal information. The accessed information includes – among others – the purposes of the processing, the categories of personal information concerned, and the recipients or categories of recipients to whom the personal information have been or will be disclosed. You have the right to obtain a copy of the personal information undergoing processing. For further copies requested by you, we may charge a reasonable fee based on administrative costs.

Right to Rectify and Complete Personal Information

Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten)

Right to Restriction of Processing

You have the right to request restrictions to the processing of your personal information. In this case, the respective data will be marked and can only be processed by us for certain purposes. This right can only be exercised where:

  • the accuracy of your personal information is contested, to allow us to verify its accuracy;
  • the processing is unlawful, but you do not want the personal information erased;
  • it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, but you still need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or you have exercised the right to object, and verification of overriding grounds is pending. We can continue to use your personal information following a request for restriction, where

Right to Data Portability

  • To provide and maintain our Services;
  • To notify you about changes to our Services;
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Services when you choose to do so;
  • To provide customer support;
  • To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Services;
  • To monitor the usage of our Services;
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues;
  • To provide you with news, special offers and general information about other opportunities, services and events which we offer where you have opted in to receive them until you unsubscribe;
  • To enhance our security and prevent fraud or any other misuse of the Services.
  • To comply with applicable laws, court orders, legal obligations, or law enforcement requests.

In situations where the provision of your personal information is necessary, not providing your personal information may likely result in you not receiving the Services requested.

We will ask for your consent to use your information in this way using a check box located on the form on which we collect your data (the registration form)/adjust your user preferences in your account profile. If we rely on your consent for us to use your personal information in a particular way, but you later change your mind, you may withdraw your consent within your profile settings or by contacting us at legal@gethello.org and we will stop doing so. However, if you withdraw your consent, this may impact the ability for us to be able to provide our Services to you.

Storage of Your Information

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy. We will retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

We cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted through the Services. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Services.

As the security of information depends in part on the security of the device you use to communicate with us and the security you use to protect user usernames and passwords, please take appropriate measures to protect this information.  We ask you not to share your password with anyone.  We urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Services like message boards. Any other users of the Services may view the information you share in public areas. Please note that information collected by third parties may not have the same security protections as information you submit to us, and we are not responsible for protecting the security of such information.

Service Providers

We may employ third party service providers and data processors to facilitate our Services, provide the Services on our behalf, perform services related to the Websites or Mobile Apps or assist us in analyzing how our Services are used.  

We may also work with third party partners to employ technologies, including the application of statistical modeling tools, which permit us to recognize and contact you across multiple devices. These third parties have access to your personal information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
  • To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or other sale or transfer of some or all of Hello World’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Hello World about our users is among the assets transferred.
  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it. For example, if you give us an e-mail address to use any “E-mail a friend” feature which may be available on our Websites or Mobile Apps, we will transmit the contents of that e-mail and your e-mail address to the recipients.
  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.
  • With third party applications or services in several ways. Please note that these third parties are not governed by Hello World or the terms of this Policy.   • We may share data with social networks as part of the application for an opportunity at your request.

  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hello World, Organizations, our users , or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
  • We may also disclose and use anonymized, aggregated reporting and statistics about users of our Websites, Mobile Apps or Services for the purpose of internal reporting or reporting to third parties, and for our marketing and promotion purposes. None of these anonymized, aggregated reports or statistics will enable our users to be personally identified.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. As a rule, we will obtain your consent prior to sending promotional materials and will only contact you with promotional materials without our prior consent if permitted by law.  If you no longer wish to receive promotional information from us, or if you do not want us to use your information to enhance your online experience, you may OPT OUT of receiving our promotional communications by simply following the Unsubscribe or Preference Center link at the bottom of our e-mails and updating your cookie settings via our Mobile Apps.  We will maintain your information in our “do not contact” list to ensure that we can honor your request and will not use this list for any other purposes. You will not be discriminated or treated differently based on your decision to opt out of certain communication or cookie settings, but some Services may be unavailable to you or offer a different experience, based on your decision to opt out of communication or collection of certain cookie information. Please note that it may take up to 30 days to process your opt out request, during which time you may continue to receive communications from Hello World.

Our Services may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. We do not control third parties’ collection or use of your information or the privacy policies or practices of these websites. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.  We provide these links solely for the convenience and information for the users of our Services.  Hello World assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You can review and change your Personal Information by logging into the Websites or Mobile Apps and visiting your account profile page.

You may also send us an e-mail at help@gethello.org to request access to, correct or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We cannot delete your Personal Information except by also deleting your user account. We may not accommodate a request to change or delete information if we believe the change or deletion would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect. We reserve the exclusive right to decline your request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, consistent with any applicable laws.

If you delete your User Contributions from the Websites or Mobile Apps, copies of your User Contributions may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or might have been copied or stored by other Websites or Mobile Apps users. Proper access and use of information provided on the Websites or Mobile Apps, including User Contributions, is governed by our Terms of Use.

Reporting Requirements

In the unfortunate event we become aware of any unauthorized access or use of personal information stored by us, we will report this to the appropriate authorities, as required by law.  If you become aware of any unauthorized use or access of your personal information as a result of our data practices, please notify us immediately using any of the methods of communication identified in this Policy.

California's "Shine the Light" Law

In accordance with California Civil Code section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine the Light” law, if you are a California resident, once a calendar year, you may be entitled to obtain information about personal information that we shared, if any, with other businesses for their own direct marketing uses. If applicable, this information would include the categories of customer information, as well as the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared customer information for the immediately prior calendar year. Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.  We may also notify you of any updates via e-mail and/or a prominent notice on our Services, prior to the change becoming effective and update the “Last Modified Date” at the top of the new Privacy Policy.  You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date active and deliverable e-mail address for you, and for periodically visiting our Websites and Mobile Apps and this Policy to check for any changes.  Changes to this Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
